A Fire Safety Lecture/Drill was conducted at West Highlands, Butuan last March 15, 2016. It was facilitated by Butuan’s Bureau of Fire Protection namely, FO1 Burdeos, FO2 Egay, FO3 Ganapin and SFO3 Miras.
The said lecture/drill was attended by 31 participants, direct employees and agency workers as well.
The objective of this activity is to orient employees on the emergency procedures in case of fire and be able to demonstrate the correct emergency response and to take part in the company fire drill.
A Brown Energy and Resources Development, Inc. (ABERDI) conducted a Food Safety Seminar on March 6, 2016 at ABERDI Mill, Impasug-ong Bukidnon. The seminar was given to food handlers assigned in the CPO (crude palm oil) and RBD (refined, bleached, and deodorized) working areas, in preparation for the HALAL application and inspection.
The half-day seminar aimed to refresh employees and agency workers’ knowledge on the importance of implementing a food safety management system, ensure that food handlers attend appropriate food hygiene courses, and maintain adequate food hygiene standards. Among the important topics discussed were the importance of basic food safety, and the different food-borne illnesses and causative agents, good safety hazards, cGMP and Tuberculosis (TB).
The Municipal Health Office of Impasugong, represented by Mr. Franco Paulo Suico RN, Nestor P. Sanglay Jr., and John Paul Y. Colina conducted the seminar.
About ABERDI
The company is in the oil palm business. Its primary activity is the extraction process of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) to CPO in its mill plant situated at Malubong, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon with a capacity of 10 tons per hour producing an average of 100 tons of CPO per day for ten hour operation. This product is a raw material for manufacturers that process both food and non-food commodities (ex. Household cooking oil, biodiesel, soap, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, noodles and pasta, non-dairy creamers, etc.) The sources of the FFBs are subsidiaries of ABERDI and various independent growers of oil palm. The oil extraction ratio of crude palm oil ranges from 15% to 20% while palm kernel recovery ranges from 2% to 5% respectively. Other products are sludge oil, fiber, and shell, empty bunch, sludge cake as non-food uses.
Refined, Bleached and Dedorized (RBD)
The company started the construction of the 50 tonner/day palm oil physical refinery with fractionation last December 2012.

Effective Grassroots Communication
A Brown Energy and Resources Development, Inc. (ABERDI) conducted an 8 hour seminar on Effective Grassroots Communication last February 5, 2016 at Xavier Sports and Country Club Function Rooms. The resource person on the said activity was Mr. Jose “Joefel” del Puerto Felicilda, journalist by profession. It aimed at developing and/or enhancing the knowledge, skills and attitudes of the participants in grassroots communication. The activity was participated by at least 22 ABERDI Supervisors and Lead men.
Bloodletting Activities
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibilities, Brown Group of Companies, in partnership with Philippine National Red Cross – Misamis Oriental Chapter, conducted a series of bloodletting activities last February 24, 2016 for CDO-based employees and February 26, 2016 for Salawaga, Opol Plantation Workers. This is to encourage employees and agency workers togive blood and save lives. There were at least 30 successful donors with a total of 13,500 cc of blood shared.
1st Quarter Employees Re-Orientation
An employee reorientation was held last February 22, 2016 at XSCCI, Function Rooms with 25 participants, who were hired from January- March. The reorientation was facilitated by HR and representatives from every department.

Xavier Sports & Country Club celebrates Valentines Day by having a dinner buffet with live entertainment.
The said event was attended by a number of homeowners and some walk-in clients.
Everyone enjoyed the delectable and sumptuous dinner, as well as the sight as the venue and pool was very well decorated. Indeed, it was a very pleasurable Valentine for everyone.
It is a yearly custom that A Brown Company, Inc. celebrates Chinese New Year and it is an event everyone is excited about. All the guests wore the color Red for 2016 is the year of the Fire Monkey. This is the year of financial luck so ponder more when making changes with your career,finances, and business or personal relationship. Homeowners and Guest were entertained by Music Wave band, Lion dance and a spectacular Fireworks.
The monthly Supervisory and Management Development Series is back on track. The said series aims to continuously educate leaders of their roles, responsibilities, and how to supervise teams in the most effective manners.
Target participants will be Supervisors, Assistant Managers, Managers, Employees considered as “understudy” for supervisory position, and anybody who is tasked to lead a team.
The first session was conducted by Engr. John L. Batac – VP Construction and Development last January 29, 2016 at XSCC Function Rooms with the topic “Managing a Safer Workplace”. The session helped employees become responsible in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.
Brown Group of Companies kicked off its 50th year through the Brokers’ Night Celebration on January 22, 2016. Everyone came in their Great Gatsby costume. The Xavier Sports and Country Club Convention Hall was transformed into a gallery of 1920s era: decoration, food, music and fashion. Accredited realties participated in the Ballroom Dance Competition. Winners received cash prizes and bragging rights. Indeed, everyone had a blast of pride and fun!
In celebration of this year’s theme “Celebrating a Joyful Year of Unity and Love in the Spirit of Christmas,” an On-the-Spot Christmas Card and Poster Making Contest was held.
The company organized activities that showcased the talented artistic skills of the Brown Group of employees and their children.

Employees rocked the hall with their greatest denim inspired outfits. Presentations and Friendly Competitions created a venue to showcase their different talents as well.
One of the highlights was Brown Group of Companies’ “YOUR FACE SOUNDS FAMILIAR” wherein four outstanding individuals from different departments showed their ability to impersonate famous local and foreign singers namely:

One of the most awaited part in the event was the Christmas Raffle which has already been a tradition by the Brown Group.
Lots of prizes were given away including sofa beds, Samsung mobile phones and three units of 32” TCL Television.
The celebration ended with loads of fun, photos, dance, and music by the live band.
Last December 18, 2015 A Brown Energy & Resources Development Inc. holds it 1st Basketball Tournament “Battle of Champions” held at Xavier Sports and Country Club. It was participated by the selected players from Opol Plantation, Kalabugao Plantation and Aberdi Mill workers who also won as champions during their respective sportsfests.
The celebration was commenced by the parade of teams around the XSCC covered court followed by an opening program. A prayer was led by Froilan Fayre. An opening remark was given by Ruffy Magbanua and Sir Allan Anthony Ramos gave an inspirational message. It was indeed a very special and festive day for all workers. Everyone was excited and gave their best for the competition. Aberdi Mill players emerged as grand champion, Kalabugao plantation players garnered the 2nd runner up and Opol plantation players proclaimed as 3rd runner up.
